Yagan Square - Overview

Exciting new hospitality venue and events to revitalise Yagan Square

Award-winning Western Australian hospitality operator Nokturnl Pty Ltd has been selected to deliver a vibrant new multi-function hospitality and event space destination at Yagan Square's Market Hall. The building works will join the new additions and refurbishments into the existing location, as well as improve the adjoining family-friendly playground and grassed area.

Due to the exciting works planned, the Playscape and ramp access will be closed from Monday 9 January 2023. The ground and upper-level Market Hall toilets will also be closed, including the Changing Places toilet and changing facility for people with profound disability.

Access to the Amphitheatre is available via the Horseshoe Bridge, Lifts and stairs.

We apologise for any inconvenience experienced as a result, but we need to invest time and funding to make Yagan Square a vibrant, safe, family-friendly space.

The Island Playground and Water Park at Elizabeth Quay are 900m away and will provide plenty of fun for you and your family.

A window into Noongar culture

A cultural engagement process from the early stages of Yagan Square design created opportunities for involvement by the Whadjuk Working Party and South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council. There is a strong Aboriginal narrative that runs through the square which incorporates stories from the Whadjuk people - the traditional owners of the land - exploring themes of place, people, animals, birds and landscape; all of which shape and create a strong sense of place. These stories have influenced various elements of Yagan Square, creating a unique space that is reflective of both culture and history.
